M1621 JAMES BASSLER Chueco 2007 Hemp, silk, alpaca colorful tie-dyed forms sewn to a hand woven background of interlocking warp and weft plain weave of the same shapes as the tie-dyed forms; 34” X 31½” The subtle colors of the tie-dyed forms were achieved through new experimentation with a variety of wood barks. Artist’s statement: The success of this piece I believe lies in the ease with which the casually placed darker resist forms interact with one another and with the extremely subtle and complex background.
